Lemon Stand tagged me in this Christmas meme {see hers here}, so here we go!
1. Have you started your Christmas shopping? No, not yet. I’ll start soon though.
2. Tell me about your special traditions. We bake cookies and listen to Christmas carols. And we watch Christmas movies. We also try to take in a Christmas concert, if we can.
3. When do you put up your tree? Usually the first Saturday or Sunday afternoon in December.
4. Are you a Black Friday shopper? Absolutely not. There are way too many people, and I choose not to chance being trampled like that poor Wal-Mart employee last year.
5. Do you travel at Christmas or stay home? This varies from year to year. It usually depends on whether or not I have Keenan. Last year, I stayed home. This year, we’re traveling.
6. What is your funniest Christmas memory? Oh, wow…I’m drawing a blank here.
7. What is your favorite Christmas movie of all time? The Santa Clause is my favorite, though I also remember watching Turner & Hooch on Christmas Day.
8. Do you do your own Christmas baking? What is your favorite treat? I do bake. So far we have made sugar cookies, but I would like to do some other baking as well. When I am home, I want to try making a gluten free version of bizcochitos.
9. Fake or real tree? Real. I go to the local grocery store and pick one up for about $20. It makes my entire apartment smell of pine and I love it. Keenan also likes wielding the nozzle on the sweeper to vaccum up all the dropped pine needles, so we both get a lot of joy out of a real tree.
10. What day does the actual panic set in to get it all done? It doesn’t. Of course, I don’t have to help plan anything. I just simply show up and try to help where I can. I leave the panicking to other people. Besides, I don’t think panicking is worth it, in my humble opinion.
11. Are you still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve? Not usually. I like having gifts under the tree for Keenan to see. And, he can watch more of them appear overnight. I wrap after he goes to sleep.
12. What is your favorite family fun time at Christmas? I really just love spending time in the same room with Keenan, my parents, my brother, and any other family that is present. It doesn’t happen very often, so I don’t really care what we do, as long as we’re together and having fun.
13. What Christmas craft do you like best? I like the crafts Keenan brings home from school, especially the ornaments we can use every year on the tree.
14. Christmas music, yes or no? And if yes, what is your favorite song? Yes, but only after we put the tree up, and not before. Otherwise, it feels like we hear the same songs 20 times. My favorite song is “Oh, Holy Night.”
15. When do you plan to finish all your shopping? I have no idea. I haven’t even started. Ha!
16. Do you know the names of all of Santa’s reindeer {without googling it}? Dasher, Dancer, Donner, Blitzen, Comet, Cupid, Prancer, and Vixen (?), and Rudolph.
17. When do you take down your Christmas tree? Usually the first weekend after the New Year. I know New Year’s Day is on a Friday this year, so I’ll probably leave it up for another week after that.
18. Hardest person to buy for? Usually my dad, but I cheat and give both Mom and Dad and 8×10 of Keenan’s school picture.
19. Easiest person to buy for? Keenan, but that doesn’t really explain why I haven’t begun shopping yet.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? We have a woolen angel that Keenan made at a craft fair last year.
21. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Um…hmmm…grocery shopping. Navigating the grocery store is terrifying and beastly. I don’t like it at al.
22. What do you want for Christmas? I want nothing. Nada, zilch, zero. I need nothing. I want nothing. I’ll have my family and my kiddo, and that is more than enough.

And there you have it.
So. My hair is wavy. Remember when it was stick straight?
This was in early 2007.
Yeah. Well. It’s not like that now.
This is not the best picture, since it doesn’t really show the waviness, but it is there. Trust me. Not much of it, but it’s there. {I would also like to note that the first picture is much more flattering. My expression in the second one is somewhat cheesy. Come to think of it, I don’t think I even look like the same person.}
It now desires to be wavy and left alone without the use of a blow dryer or a curling iron. So, I have had to use different product to help it look more wavy and maintain body throughout the day.
My mom gave me some of this texturizing taffy that smells like cotton candy.

It pieces out the waves without gunky stickiness. I used up the last of it this morning on Keenan’s hair because there wasn’t enough for mine.
I found something that works just as well, for a fraction of the cost. It doesn’t have that nice cotton candy smell, though.

I do like have hair that takes all of five minutes to “do.” Love it, in fact.
Check this out – 4 Little Men & Girly Twins is having a giveaway! These amber and hazelwood necklaces are reputed to help with teething, arthritis, carpal tunnel, and a whole host of other ailments. You can read more here {for hazelwood} and here {for Baltic amber}.
I really like the cognac necklace or the lemon necklace, featured on this page. I’ve always been a sucker for amber.
I wonder if the hazelwood would help Keenan and me with our sinus issues. And possibly his bronchitis. I’d order one from this page for him, but I can’t be certain he’d wear it.
At such a reasonable price, it would be worth a shot, though since we’ve been taking the OPC-3 stuff, we haven’t had many issues {knocks on wood}.
If any of you have a baby that’s teething {or is about to start teething} head on over to enter the giveaway right here!
1. It dawned on me tonight that I won’t have nearly enough ornaments for our Christmas tree, which I brought home today. So, I crocheted ornaments and also made some red and green garland chains.. This was both efficient and cost-effective, as I already had red and green yarn on hand. Tomorrow, I will make a few more green ornaments, and may make some white ones also.
2. My teeth no longer like ice cream. The coldness hurts. This isn’t good because ice cream is one of my favorite desserts. However, I’m sure I will live.
