Friendship
There are a lot of quotes about friendship. I was surprised that there are so many quotes about friendship and adversity. Here’s a smattering :
Misfortune shows those who are not really friends. ~ Aristotle
The shifts of Fortune test the reliability of friends. ~ Cicero
In prosperity our friends know us; in adversity we know our friends. ~ John Churton Collins
There are so many more, but those were the ones that made me grin. Here’s a few more for s&gs.
Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation. ~George Washington
When the character of a man is not clear to you, look at his friends. ~ Japanese proverb
Never explain–your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe you anyway. ~ Elbert Hubbard

“True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it be lost.” – Charles Caleb Colton
“A friend is one who walks in when others walk out” -Walter Winchell
“A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.”
“Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead.
Walk beside me and be my friend.”
- Albert Camus
Those are good!
I really do believe “when the shit hits the fan, that’s when you find your true friends”.
Well, it held true for me anyway. When I had D all on my own and had to endure a lot of crap from his father, someone I thought was a really good friend turned out to be useless. And another one, someone whom I didn’t rate so much, turned out to be rock solid and is still one of my very best friends. Strange old world …
Yes, ma’am, I agree! I think that holds true for everyone. Not many people can go through their entire lives completely unscathed. That would be boring, wouldn’t it?
