Winding Down

Time seems to be going so fast, and yet it’s dragging along at the same time. I have a little less than two weeks until the great migration. I have collected some boxes, but probably not enough. I haven’t begun to pack, and that’s okay. I can probably pack most of my stuff in about three days, if I work on it after I get home from work.

Some things will need to be thrown away, like clothes that have holes in them or that bookshelf that’s falling apart. Still other things will need to be taken to the Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

Side note : I just discovered that there is a Salvation Army close to my new apartment. Very good to know.

I feel like I am in limbo and I just have to wait. I can’t make time speed up and I can’t make it go slower. There are so many positive and negative aspects of the great migration, but I believe the positive aspects outweigh the negative by about 10 tons.
**Positive Aspects**
~ Tim and Heather and their kiddos have their very own house to make a home and futz with until it’s absolutely perfect. I have no doubt that it will be splendid.
~ I get my own apartment to make a home.
~ No more icky orange water.
~ Tim doesn’t have to drive down the hill in order to take the garbage out anymore. Thank you for doing that without complaint for the last year. I appreciate it immensely.
~ I will have to drive less because my apartment is a half mile from Keenan’s school, as opposed to the 15 miles as it is now.

**Negative Aspects**
~ No more standing in the kitchen until 2 am talking about everything under the sun.
~ The kids won’t have built-in playmates.
~ No more family fun night Fridays for me and Keenan.
~ We won’t have a view of the ocean.
~ I will miss my friends.

Yes, I will miss them, but they’ll still be there. We’re going to have to do dinners or something…and often.

I am excited that Keenan and I will get to make our own traditions and excited that we’ll get to have our own place. There is so much to be excited for, and yet I find myself being a little wistful about it all and having a bittersweet feeling.

These next two weeks are going to fly by. I am sure of it. It will be a whirlwind of excitement. I will take a lot of pictures, I promise!

If the Salvation Army is anything like the ones in the midwest, on Wednesdays they have 1/2 price on all colors of tags of clothing!! Definitely the time to shop!! But I love how they have a color for 1/2 price every day!!! Look forward to hearing about your new finds when you go!!
