Coffee Shop

Someone needs to open a coffee shop somewhere near Keenan’s kindergarten where both civilians and military are welcome. The fast food joint around the corner doesn’t count as a coffee shop. Neither does the AAFES gas station. I am a civilian so I can’t go in there. Well, I could go in there, but I couldn’t purchase anything because I don’t have a military id. I would imagine there’s a coffee shop or a deli at the PX or the commissary…but again…I run into the military id thing.

There are plenty of vacant buildings that could be converted. You’d have a built in clientele with all the military personnel and their families, as well as the civilians the take their kids to the two middle schools and the kindergarten out there. There’s plenty of construction going on, which means there will be more people living in that area in the next few years. Every time I drive down Gen. Jim Moore, I always see mamas out with their babies in strollers, walking down the street by the chapel and the library. And we know those mamas need coffee.

It’d be a gold mine. A gold mine I tell you.

You know what would be great. A kid friendly coffee shop. moms could get coffee and there could be a little place for kids to play and read stories. Id be all over that.

Yes…kids would also be welcome. There would be a little play structure for them, books, toys, etc etc etc.

I’m beginning to think this place exists only in my dreams…but definitely not on the Monterey Peninsula!!!!

If I were independently wealthy, I’d do it myself.

Now there’s a business idea for you. There’s obviously a gap in the market. Why don’t you start small and open a basic little coffee shop, then expand it and improve it to be kid-friendly?

Well…I had someone mention funding for it. It would take some doing, but I think it would be a good idea. Definitely a good thing. People sure are addicted to coffee around here too ;-)
